and i can't help but feel that you see the mistakes (closed)
WHO: Zuko & Eleven
WHEN: Early Sept
WHERE: In one of the public gardens, around daybreak
WHAT: Meditation, sparring, conversing.
WARNINGS: None
The man, that prophet - Moran, had predicted a duel with his sister and told him there wasn't anything he could to do change it. Zuko didn't know if he believed that, but if it was the case then all Zuko could do was be ready for what was coming. He needed to practice and stay ready. This place had almost killed him twice, and if his part of his destiny was to face his sister he needed to live to see it.
He reached the small public garden just before dawn, situating himself where he knew he would be in the path of the sunrise. Zuko sat on the ground and began to breathe as he felt the warmth of the coming day seep through his clothes and into his body, centering him even as it filled him with its energy.
The slow pace of his breathing was interrupted when he heard the sound of footsteps, opening one eye and then the other as he waited, still quietly reveling in the new day's sunlight from his seat.
Opening first one eye and then the other he recognized the man from the group and gave him a tight nod.
"I didn't think anyone else would come here this early." His posture relaxed while he looked El over. "Did you come here to meditate?"

"I don't mean to disturb you; it's just the gardens touched by sunlight are the best place for me- the combination of Light and Life.. If you don't mind too much."
no subject
He wouldn't be disturbed by someone else, though he had intended to move into practicing his forms once the sun was higher in the sky - he decided to play it by ear. He was curious what the connection Eleven said he had with the sunlight entailed.

The blades were still a little damp from the morning dew, but they would dry soon enough. He let himself focus on that first, on the quiet pinpricks of life beneath him, growing slowly. Then as the sun peeked further into the garden, the recovering spirit in his chest ached and relished in the soothing energy from both sources. It was there in the melding energies of life and light that Eleven held himself at peace.

After the silence between them held for what bordered on an hour or more, Zuko stood without a word, broadening his stance with his feet facing forward until he almost looked as though he were sitting astride an ostrich-horse (or a regular horse if you wanted to be weird about it). He held his arms at his sides, fists forward and level with his hips, beginning to breathe again while he waited to hear something from the other man. He wanted to practice his forms, but he wasn't going to start bending while someone else was trying to focus. It wasn't exactly subtle.

"..Am I in your way?"
no subject
"I want to work through some forms if that won't disturb you. I just thought I should say something so you don't think you're going to get burned." Usually, he had somewhere stone to go through this part of the day, but he figured the plants around him would help him focus on his control. It wasn't like he didn't need to work on that anyway.

The warning was appreciated, but Eleven remained where he was, curious. "I don't mind."

Working through the forms he was careful not to give his fire too much energy, keeping the flames small and controlled. He didn't want to risk putting anyone in jeopardy, including himself and this garden. Zuko had learned his lesson about lacking control enough times that now he was mindful enough to prevent anything from behind burned.

"Are you a kind of fire spirit?" he queried once it seemed appropriate to. "Or blessed by one, perhaps."
no subject
"The dragons were the first firebenders, they shared their art with my people thousands of years ago, no spirits or anything like that that I know of."
no subject
"I've never heard of anything like that," he admitted after a moment. "Even one of the most gifted sages in Erdrea didn't have that much control. There's only a few ways we can direct it."
no subject
"Where I come from, people bend the elements. Fire, water, earth," he hesitated to mention air, not wanting to end up initiating a discussion about the airbenders and what had happened to them. "It's a part of who you are, people spend their lives mastering an element."
