Your future is.... uncertain
WHO: Beitang Moran, OPEN
WHEN: Month of August except for the protest and the poisoning incident
WHERE:Mostly Donna Vannozza's palazzo. If not, probably a bookstore or a library.
WHAT:POLITICS and also being a Court Prophet.
WARNINGS: There might be some spoilers and or bad stuff in visions f those happen, we'll try to warn appropriately if this is the case.
A.THE PROPHET
[After a few a days, a rumor has started spreading in hushed whispers.
Donna Vannozza has a guest with a strange power. It is not unlike that of some of the Attaryl witches, except it appears to be both more powerful and more accurate. All those who have visited him have been stupefied with it. They exchange tales, and sometimes, in whispers, pronouncement that this man has seen their city governed fairly and with great intent by a noble lady.
The man, however, is reclusive. he rarely leaves the apartments he was given by Donna Vanozza, and will only accept to see someone if they come by appointment and recommended. That hasn't prevented some stragglers from waiting at his door in the vain hope of being admitted in his presence. They very rarely are allowed. Although depending on who is out, Moran might indulge one or two on occasion who might be useful.
The servants do have a list of people who are allowed to jump the queue. It has, conveniently, all the people from their little group on it, mixed in with a handful of influent nobles from the city. There is no end to the teeth-gnashing when that happens, but Moran can quite rightfully invoke all the hauteur he is capable of summoning as an actual Imperial Prince to quiet down any attempts at bartering for entry.
Come get your fortune told.]
((OOC : if you'd like Moran to have an actual vision about your chharacter's future while visiting for other reasons, feel free to hit the plotting post and we can arrange something.))
B.THE POWER
[Maybe it's some sort of cosmic intervention, but Moran's power has decided to somehow cooperate and manifest with enough regularity that he is, in fact getting actual visions for most of his visitors.
And for those he does not, he has lived at court long enough and is observant enough that he can make slightly general pronouncements that end up being mostly accurate.
But of course, that is taking its toll on his body. During one evening where he deigns attend the dinner and entertainment, he is taken with a dizzy spell, and has to be brought back to his apartments. What little can be seen of his face is always pale, and reports from the palazzo's kitchen say he is not eating much.
With Xunxian on the other side, it's harder to remember to take care of himself, especially since he needs to use the power to advance their goal. On the rare occasions that he takes a stroll, usually later at night or early in the morning to avoid crowds, he will more often than not find himself fatigued. Will you help him from the bench he has had to sit on, or help him to recover as you find him leaning against a wall and trying to fight dizziness?]
C.THE CITY
[On the days he doesn't feel too bad, Moran will be mostly trying to explore all of the bookstores in this city and try to acquire as much as he can about history and language. He uses the device for ease of translations, but will occasionally attempt to communicate without, just to practice a bit.
Someone entering one particular bookstore might find him wandering the aisles, followed by a man carrying a relatively impressive pile of books. Every few moments, Moran will inquire about a volume, be explain what is in it, and then...]
Fine, I'll take that one too.
[And on top of the pile it goes.]

Well, if there would be any sense, I would have words with my lady Rigarda about keeping me away from your side just at this time, but...
Would it help if Patricia the cat would keep you company as much as she is willing to?
[ She's a little cuddlebug and is unlikely to reject Moran when he needs something small and sweet, like petting her and holding her. ]
I would say meeting at other strolls such as this, but I would not want to take up time you might actually sleep in.
no subject
[Not that Moran would not appreciate it. He likes his animals and he does miss them, so yes, having a fluffy thing to pet would probably help, but he also knows cats are independent creatures.]
And if I am outside, then obviously I am not sleeping, am I? So that should be fine.
[Truth be told, he probably still sleeps less than he should. Exhaustion forces him to, but he still fights it.]
Since you basically picked me up from an almost undignified tumble, I don't think anyone would really mind if you escorted me back. You can tell people I gave you a predictions about your future conquests.
no subject
And I could even not tell anyone who I am, why would they question why I'm here. Or there, escorting you to your room.
Now? Or in a little bit more?
[ And maybe there will be a street stall with something easy to eat so Moran can snack on it on the way back, because Xunxian suspects at this point it might be a choice between eating and sleeping when he returns.
(He doesn't want to turn back at the door.
But he knows his own place and it is first not making things harder for Moran. And compromising their new identities would not assist with that.) ]

[The kind of exhaustion linked to their overuse of power is not just simple tiredness that goes away with a rest or a nap. It's deeper than that, as Xunxian very well knows.
And it might derail Xunxian's plan of making him eat. His appetite, never voracious, is usually the first thing to go in those instances.]

[ Xunxian hums and shifts from embracing Moran to standing up and holding out his hand for him. He would truly not mind sitting here and holding Moran for an hour, but Moran's need takes precedence and rest to at least somewhat replenish his energy reserves is absolutely more important. Comfortable rest. ]
You decide how much you lean on me as we walk. I'm right here.
[ Perhaps if there is something like freshly roasted peeled chestnuts or other nuts, in a stall still open. Or, perhaps, fresh berries. Nothing that will be particularly difficult to eat or digest, but that will give energy. Otherwise, Xunxian won't even try to bring it with them and leave it for Moran, he knows better.
His stomach is heavy with worry, but his steps are easy and light, and so is his quiet voice as he comments on what is around them as they return to Moran's quarters. ]

[Dear Xunxian. Reliable Xunxian, who is always, always right here. Until the moment he was not and Moran had to face the prospect of a world without him...
Aaaah, this is why he hates being in that state. Bad thoughts tend to resurface. So yes, he might be leaning quite heavily, and not really taking in the sights at all.]
no subject
Only once they are almost at Moran's door, just in case Moran says he will go in alone, Xunxian murmurs, ]
the
Moran... do you think this... transferring of qi which some people keep talking on the network... might help? I know what we have will not be able to replenish the energy expended so, but that is not something we do have.
no subject
... I don't know. I believe there is an actual doctor among them, which might probably be a better person to ask than just any of the others.
But as long as this calms down, you know I will be back to normal soon enough.
no subject
But if it fails to... you are in a better position to seek that doctor out. Will you?
[ It was a spur of the moment idea. ]
no subject
I shall. I believe she is often with Lady Vannozza, though, so it might be difficult to reach her easily.
no subject
[ Oh, Xunxian will make sure. ]
no subject
[For now, though, let him get inside his room and flop on the first comfortable surface.]
no subject
[ ... and because Moran did not tell him to go, Xunxian will come right in with him and close the door firmly. And possibly start helping him out of the stiff parts of the garments, like the boots, the outer tunic, and the mask. And brings over the basin of water for washing up.
He doesn't even think about these things. He just... does them. ]
no subject
He'll shrug off his heavier robes and splash his face with water, and then simply rest against the back of his chair with his eyes closed.]
no subject
But for now, Xunxian watches the other, dear man for a long moment, before stepping quietly behind him and gently placing his fingers over his head for a gentle massage - making sure to stay out of any lines of sight from the windows.
It just...
He really can't do much for Moran right now. So what he can, he doesn't hesitate. ]
